Providing care outside Portrait facilities
- At time of Scheduling
- Be HIPAA-Compliant in all interactions
- Event attendees must understand that due to the nature of an event gathering
- there is a high risk that confidentiality regarding their treatment goals, medical treatment, and treatment outcomes will be known by other attendees.
- Provide and complete Informed Consent Forms
- Event attendees must sign consents while not under the influence of any alcohol or other agent that alters their mental state, except those prescribed by their physician.
- Infection Control and Safety Measures
- All pets, even service animals, must be secured. Minors may be present but their guardian and the provider will jointly ensure they are not disruptive to any procedures. -
- Universal Precautions will be followed in any facility or circumstance where a QLHP provides care.
- Assume that all human blood and specified human body fluids are infectious for HIV, HBV, and other blood-borne pathogens.
- Hands must be washed for 20 seconds prior to and after all procedures using a liquid soap.
- Gloves must be worn
- at any time when there is a potential for contact with blood or other body fluids
- when performing any injections
- Any disposables in contact with blood or body fluids must be double-bagged and tagged with a biohazard sticker for disposal
- All sharps must be properly disposed in the sharps container
- Disposable needles are to be stored where only authorized personnel have access
- An incident form must be completed for all needle stick injuries and must be reported to the Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer
- Clients with any infection must reschedule and not be treated until after the infection has cleared
